The Old "I Don't Have Much To Say So I'll Add A Big Picture And Increase The Font Size" Trick

Sometimes I re-live the magic of the day that I was dubbed "Mother Dork". Much the same way that I imagine Miss America fondly remembers the night she received her crown. My daughter bestowed this honorable title upon me when she noticed how ridiculous I look in the car belting out "I’m On the Top of the World" along with my Carpenter’s tape. And ssshhh, don’t tell, but I’m also a huge Barry Manilow fan.

Well, my mother bought a "Mom and Dads" album because she thought it was "The Mamas and the Papas". Granted, the accordion player DID look a little like Cass Elliot, but it was a male...

Oh yeah! I love heavy metal, but I also adore Karen Carpenter and Barry Manilow. Yes, I am warped and mentally unstable, without a doubt.

Great pic of Barbie Miss America, BTW. I couldn't tell the diff between Barbie and the real thing until I noticed the fake joints... *eyes rolling*

Miss America... I'm holding out for the Mr. America competition with bathing suit reviews.

A fanilow.........hahaha! Haven't heard that term before.I love it!
The Partridge Family was the first album I ever owned. Of course I was 5 but the album cover helped to teach me to spell the word Albuquerque. Though it was so far from the frozen tundra of Mapleleafland the "point me in the direction of" part of the song was lost on me.
I will confess to also having a Carpenters tape once upon a time, and even singing along!
My personal sing along in the car favorite-----the Bare Naked Ladies "If I had a million dollars"
Hey, if I did maybe I could by myself a crown just like Miss America's!

Be proud of your dorkness! We moms are meant to bring embarrassment to our kids. It's our job to be dorky. I'll share the crown with you.

I freaking LOVE the carpenters. In fact went on a search for the carpenters a few weeks ago and now I belt them out in my car with my friends often. Even downloaded top of the world for my ring tone for my two favorite guys. =)
